My Travel Make Up Bag

Hey,

So this post is going to be my travel make up bag products. I am going away for a casual family long-weekend holiday, so I have decided to review my products I am currently finding essential. I’d like to say that this was a small collection and the holiday won’t include any dressy nights, so I didn’t pack for this

So to start, my little travel make up bag is this cute brown faux leather and navy floral print. I adore the pattern and the leather means it is easy to wipe of stains. The wording on the label reads ‘make me beautiful’, which I think is so cute and sweet.

The first product in my make up bag is my ‘Collection, Lasting Perfection’ foundation in the shade ‘Porcelain’. I ran out of an old foundation about a month ago, and wanted to try something new so I tried this. I have been liking this as an everyday foundation but sometimes I do find it a little heavy and hard to blend in on my skin. I think the shade is warm to your skin but very occasionally I do feel conscious of being tinted orange? Overall I like this foundation though, although the pump packaging gets very messy.  It is available for £5.99 here: http://www.boots.com/en/Collection-Lasting-Perfection-Foundation_984439/

My powder is the ‘Rimmel, Stay Matt’ powder which I use every day to set my foundation and matt my skin. I love this product so much and rely on it everyday. I have repurchased this 3 or 4 times so far and I think it is great if you don’t want to spend too much on expensive powders, like me. The powder is available, in the new packaging, for £3.99 here: http://www.boots.com/en/Rimmel-Stay-Matte-Pressed-Powder_1015573/

Next I won’t talk much about, it is a much loved product on my blog- the ‘Body Shop, Lip butter’ in coconut. I use this to moisturise my lips every day. Available here, for £4.00: http://www.thebodyshop.co.uk/shop-by-range/coconut/coconut-lip-butter.aspx

I think this product was in my ‘April favourites post’ (read: http://mydaisychaincloset.blogspot.co.uk/2014/05/my-monthly-favourites-april.html) and it is my ‘Kate Moss’ lipstick in ‘08’. This shade is a lovely everyday wearable rosy pink tone. I would describe this lipstick as your lips but better, and the consistently lasts well. I use this lipstick all the time, just to add a little to my lips and I must say it is beautiful. It is available here, for £3.99: http://www.boots.com/en/Rimmel-Kate-Lasting-Finish-Lipstick_1230439/

This product’s packaging has come away, but it is basically a felt tip eyeliner from Primark, yes Primark, and cost only £1.50. I love this product, for the price it is a brilliant make up item. I use this a lot to line my eyes and create different looks. It is well pigmented and build-able, and the nib of the pen is small which I find very useful. Mine is in a black shade, and has lasted me a few months so far!

Next are mascaras. I did a review on some mascaras very early on this year, (read: http://mydaisychaincloset.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/mascara-vrs-review.html) and basically I use two. This one is my ‘Max Factor, false lash effect’ in the shade ‘black/brown’. I like this mascara as an everyday mascara, because it extends my lashes and the ‘black/brown’ shade is really wear-able and cute. I find the colour less shocking, so good for natural/ school looks. You can buy it here for £10.99, http://www.boots.com/en/Max-Factor-False-Lash-Effect-Mascara_641711/

The other mascara I take around is from ‘BarryM’. It is their ‘3in1, intense black mascara’. I use this mascara on weekend or when I’m going out. It makes my lashes look fake and bold, enough to extend their look and make a statement. I don’t use this everyday because I do find it can clump and the look is a bit too much for school. It is available here, for £6.19: http://www.boots.com/en/Barry-M-3-in-1-Mascara_947301/

The next product was a freebie from ‘No.7’ a while ago and I’ve been really liking it for spring/summer. The product is a lip crayon in a glittery pink shade, and I love to wear this with or without my Kate Moss Lipstick. It’s not as good as many other lip crayons though, and I am looking for a new one, do you have any recommendations? It is available here, for £9.00, although I don’t think it’s worth that http://www.boots.com/en/No7-High-Shine-Lip-Crayon_1310100/

Next is eye shadow. I don’t have any space for pallets so I am just taking one circular 3 pallet. This is my ‘No.7, good earth’ pallet that comes with a high, low and medium shade. These are great to build up looks or for everyday wear. I find these eye shadows last well and the shades are a lovely neutral set. It is available here, for £9.50, http://www.boots.com/en/No7-Stay-Perfect-Eyeshadow-Trio_1273275/

The last things in my make up bag are my brushes. I am taking my eyelash curlers (came from a no.17 set), an eye brow brush and 3 brushes for eye shadow. For eye shadow I have packed an angled brush, a lid brush and a small brush (to add contour shades).

So that’s all, I hope you have enjoyed this post and leave me a comment about your make up essentials in your travel make up bag,

Book review: Insurgent + Allegiant by Veronica Roth

It’s time for the next book review of the month, and this is what I read in April, along with Divergent review that I already posted. Read that here: http://mydaisychaincloset.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/book-review-divergent-by-veronica-roth.html .

So after I read Divergent, I had to read Insurgent. Unlike the Hunger Games, when I read the first book I had to read on. I was sad after the first book and didn’t want the second book to be a let down and it wasn’t.

When reading Insurgent, by Veronica Roth, the original book began to feel so simple and basic, as the second book is a little more complicated.
Insurgent was such a good read, and again I had to force myself to obey limited reading rules and force myself to put the book down. There are so many emotions in this book; grief, anger, nerves, confusion and happiness, just some of them. This means you stay hooked, and even with a more complicated storyline, you will be absorbed.
One thing this book is filled of it plot twists. Throughout the book the plot will suddenly change and leave you guessing what will be it’s future. Veronica Roth is such an amazing writer, and uses plot twists to leave you constantly surprised anf shocked! This is a brilliant ability that she implicates in every page, and I would bet that no-one at any point in this book could guess its end!

If you haven’t yet read Divergent, PLEASE DO, as I’m sure you will love it. Don’t be scared by the fact it is a trilogy, and don’t be put off of you have already watched the film- this book is incredible and is the next big thing, so don’t miss out!

Please tell me down bellow what you think of my review, and any thoughts you have of Insurgent!

I also have read Allegiant, by Veronica Roth, the final book. This does not have the same gripping plotline as the others but holds the same, if not more, deeply moving ideas and words that feel so important to the way we live. The ending if unpredictable and although I have never cried at a book, I have never been so emotionally touched- to the point that I was nearly shaking. I loved this book, and the whole series, as I think it has taught me important lessons and has provoked thoughts that let me see this world in different eyes. Life is valuable, and through all obstacles we must find a way to be brave- to show the dauntless in ourselves.

I have great respect for Veronica Roth, she has bravery and knowledge, honesty, peacefulness and selflessness as well as every other possible aptitude. She has put a powerful story into the world, a touching romance but also deeply moving ideas and important life messages. She not relise that, in the hype her books are getting (which they do diserve), that they matter to the people that read them. I hope one day she can feel my gratefulness, as she is an incredible woman.

Please read the Divergent series, it is the best book and series of books I have ever read. It gives you fantasy and love, romance and guidance, and so many more things. It is a wonderful book.

Thank you,

How to be happy

Hey guys,

So this post is going to be a bit like my monthly lifestyle posts but it is going to be a bit different. Today’s post is going to be about happiness. Now, I do consider myself to be quite a happy and bubbly personality, but obviously I can be sad and angry at times, like a normal person. I think my positivity is a blessing to the fact that I haven’t had that many negative experiences in my life, but this post is about staying positive. Here I am just going to include some of my methods to be happy generally and/or to lift my mood if I am down.

  1. Music. It’s a bit of an obvious ones, but it’s equally important. Everyone has different music interests and any music is brilliant to lift your mood, but what I would suggest is keeping a playlist on your phone/ ipod with only happy and motivational music. I always play mine, called ‘Happy Mood’, and change up the songs every now and again. My happy mood playlist is for when I feel a bit tired or down, and by the end I’m singing and dancing away. I also like to keep a few Disney dongs in there as the positivity always makes me smile.

  1. Surround yourself in happiness. Your bedroom is one of your most important places, it’s one of the places you spend most of your time in, it’s where you wake up and go to sleep. One of my most personally important tips is to keep things that make you happy on show in it. I keep photos, quotes, my favourite books and so many other things on show, just because I know that they make me smile.

  1. Linking to tip two is an item I absolutely love that makes me so happy. This is my ‘achievements 2014’. It’s a common idea but one I really love. Keeping a ‘memories’ jar or ‘achievements’ jars, is a really nice way to reflect on good times or on your personal goals. My jar is just for 2014, but you could do it for a month or school term. It really makes me happy if I am sad because I can look and see my good times are filling up the jar. At the end of the year I will look back over the times, and remember all the things I may have forgotten.

  1. So I touched on this earlier but quotes. I love to keep quotes in my room because they are really good in changes your mood. Often you can feel annoyed or angry or hopless and I like to read quotes to me feel happy inside. I have a A4 sheet of paper that I filled with quotes, and I also keep quotes inside picture frames in my room. I would recommend to change up your quotes every now and again, my current quotes is one from my favourite book Divergent.

  1. Friends and Family. They are made to make you happy. If you are sad and feel alone, talking helps so much as it gets rid of you’re built up emotions. A friend will always comfort you and then do their best to cheer you up, and a family is there to support you and is there to help.

  1. Watching movies. If I have had a bad day and I feel horrible, one of my favourite things to do is watch a movie. It takes my mind of whatever I am upset about and normally, as I generally watch Disney movies to make me happy, it works. I like to sit in bed and watch a movie, and try to forget the world as much as I can.

  1. Taking time out for yourself. It’s always good to help others and to work hard and to contribute and do chores… but sometimes you need to take time for yourself. There are so may ways you can do this, but I think it is so important. Taking time for yourself means that you have time to build up your self esteem and feel calm. If you are trying to be happier in general than you need to learn patience, and a tip from this is just to think about whatever it is in your alone time. For example if I fought with a friend, I would try and be as calm as possible and then I’d go home and have a bath. Then I would think about if my actions were necessary and what to do next.

  1. Reading. I love to read books anyway but if you are sad/upset they are so good at taking your mind somewhere else. Also books are good for long-term happiness. Novels teach us heart-warming stories, and inspire action and adventure. They let us imagine fantasies or thrill us with mystery. I like to read because I really do think it changes my outlook on event and things that happen to me. I think I learn through my books about not taking things for granted and loving what I have.

  1. Smile. I smile a lot, and I mean a lot. If I am out on my own, I smile at strangers. Often they look at me like im weird but mostly I get a reply of another smile. Smiles are like a chain of happiness and passing one on makes me feel so overjoyed. I think about what their day might be like, and how a simple smile may help them, after all a smile is free of charge. It reminds me of one of my favourite quotes, ‘be friendly to everyone, because those who may deserve it least may need it the most’. Also it is scientifically proved that if you smile, it actually teaches your body to be happy.

  1. Persuade yourself to be a happy person. This is in general but there are so many things that you need to do to maintain a happy mood. Tips for this are things like avoiding negative swearing or insults, try other words and give compliment. If a situation is bad, look on the bright side- or at least remember that when this day is over, things will be good again. Its keeping the mindset of being happy that is the hardest, I struggle with it a lot. But with the laughter of friends and the positivity of others, I, myself, discover the happiness in my own soul.

So that’s all of my tips, I hope that these can help you if you need them or maybe inspire you to try a new tip! Please share your comments down bellow about your happiness tips, thanks and keep smiling,

The Liebster Award

Hey everyone,

So this weeks post is going to be something different, something exciting for me. I found out about a week and a half ago that one of my lovely readers- Alyssa Barnett., that she nominated me for a Liebster award.
My first reaction was a pleased feeling, that someone had actually come across my blog and read it. They had liked my content enough to recommend me. I was touched.
Then I was curious, as I had never heard of the Liebster award.

The Liebster award is basically an idea to create more communication between bloggers. It is also for those who may be new to blogging and have very few followers. The award is like a tag that gets passed on from one blog to another. These are the only rules/ guidelines.
·         Thank the amazing blogger that nominated you
·         Answer the 11 questions the nominator provided
·         Nominate 11 other bloggers who have less than 200 followers
·         Post 11 different questions for your nominees to answer
·         Contact your nominees to let them know that you've nominated them

So now I will answer my questions. I'd like to say hello to any new readers and I hope you like my blog. I'm sorry but when writing this I can't seem to get rid of the highlighted text, but please do read. x

1 What Is Your Favourite Childhood Memory?
Now I’m only 14, so I consider myself still being in my childhood. But some of my favourite memories are from my old home- Bahrian. I lived in Bahrain for 5 years of my childhood, which is a country in the middle east. I have not got a specific memory but all of my time there counts as one big one to me!
2 Natural, Acrylic or Gel Nails?
I love to paint my nails, and I never use fake nails. To answer your question my favourite nail polish is a Barry M Gelly Nail paint, which is a gel nail paint, but my most used are just the basic nail polishes.
3 What Is Your Favorite Perfume?
Again, I don’t really have a favourite perfume, but my favourite body spray is currently Impulse’s sweet smile spray. I reviewed some of their sprays here:
4 What Season Of Life Are You In (Young & Free, Little Ones, Teens, Empty Nest ?)
So currently I am in my teens. I feel like I’m becoming myself and learning as I go. I have created a happy life for myself, with a close best friend and everyday I try to do things for myself and not care about other people’s negative opinions.
5 Cook At Home Or Eat Out?
I don’t cook meals much at home, but I do love to cook! I mostly cook sweet treats like crumbles, chocolate desserts and cakes! If I go out, I love to go out with my family- my current favourite treat being chicken burgers, they are the best things ever!
6 Biggest Fashion Fail?
Ok, so we all have fashion fails as we grow up, those days when we just shake our heads at that old school photo. I would say my worst fashion fail is when I was about 10 and my favourite accessory was the bright tights, when I wore shorts and dresses with yellow, pink, blue… etc tights. I laugh at it now, but for some reason I still find it difficult to through out those old tights J x
7 Best Beauty Invention?
These questions are really difficult! I’m so bad at answering tag questions! Anyway I don’t really know what my best beauty invention is, so I’m going to say my favourite beauty product, sorry! I think my complete favourite beauty product is my Body Shop- Lip butters, mine are in coconut.
8. If You Could Pick Any Profession To Take On What Would It Be?
Well I always struggle with thinking of a career, because there are so many things I want to do. When I was little I always said I wanted to be an artist or author. Now I would say my dream jobs would be to work at Disney, creating a Disney movie as I one of the biggest Disney fan, to do something to do with fashion, or writing about fashion in a magazine or something to do with helping people, possibly teaching those with special needs.
9. Favorite Pastime?
There are so many things I like to do in my spare time including watching Youtube, reading, painting dinsey or doing some art, cooking, singing and dancing to music, having baths and watching Disney. My favourite thing would be depending on my mood at the time, but my favourite ultimate past-time would be spending time with my best friend.
10. Least Favorite Household Duty
The job I most dislike is dusting. I don’t mind doing it, but I always find my bedroom gets so dusty so quickly- so the dusting never ends! It drives me crazy that one day after I’ve dusted, that dust is gathering again!
11. Why Did You Start A Blog?
The reason I started my blog was after mainly factors persuaded me. I watch beauty gurus on Youtube and have always wanted to do something similar, but know I don’t have enough guts to create a Youtube or permission. Another reason is that I have always loved fashion and feel that at my age I am really creating my own personal style. The thing that actually made me begin my blog when I did was Dof E. Originally I was going to use my blog as part of the ‘skill’ part of my DofE, but after I decided on something else. My best friend actually came up with the idea of a blog, and now I carry it on as a hobby and something to do with my spare time!
So for my nominations. These are some blogs similar to my own, that I found on Bloglovin’. I followed the Bloglovin stats to check they had under 200 followers, so sorry if you are over this amount! I really liked these blogs, all for different ways, and I would recommend them to everyone!

My Monthly Favourites: April

Hey,

So I can’t believe it but April is now over and May had begun, and I’ve decided to show you some of my monthly favourites. I know I didn’t do one in March, and there aren’t that many but here are some products and items I have loved this month!

The ‘Aussie miracle hair insurance, lightweight conditioning spray’ is my first favourite. I have been using this spray to soften my hair and it really works. My hair type never is completely soft, but using this spray does make my hair feel noticeably smoother. I spray this on wet hair or on more than one day old hair to give it a boost, and it just seems to work nice. More information is here-http://www.aussiehair.com/uk/products/miracle-hair-insurance-leave-in-conditioner.php, and the product is available from many UK stores including Boots and Tesco.

The next favourite of mine is something a literally adore. This is my favourite nail polish at the moment and it is the Barry M high shine gelly nail polish in Blueberry. This colour is so beautiful for spring, being a soft periwinkle to cornflower blue shade. It is an alternative to the mainstream pastels colours but has a similar effect. To read my reviews on this and other spring nail polishes click here- http://mydaisychaincloset.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/spring-nail-polishes.html, the link also has purchasing and price details.

Now is my next favourite which is the foundation I’ve been using this month. My max factor foundation ran out earlier this year and I was in need of a new foundation. I had no idea what type of product I wanted, so decided on something cheap so that if I disliked it, it wouldn’t matter. As it is I really like the ‘collection, lasting perfection ultimate wear foundation’ as it works really well with my skin. I think it looks natural and never looks orange but I do notice that it has good coverage and does cover up blemishes well. You can buy the product here- http://www.boots.com/en/Collection-Lasting-Perfection-Ultimate-Wear-Foundation-SPF-20_1436025/ for just £5.99.

My fourth favourite is another make up favourite. This product is my ‘Kate’ lipstick in the shade 08. It is a ‘lasting finish’ lipstick and I really love it. I bought this in about February and now I use it all the time. The shade is a your-lips-but-better colour, a rosy toned shade, that looks natural but at the same time cute for spring. I really like this lipstick because of the colour and its long lasting qualities that stays for a reasonable time.

One of my fashion favourites this month has been pastel colours. I don’t really follow trends, but I have really tried to add pastel colours into my spring wardrobe. I think pastel colours are so beautiful and add a lovely touch to make an outfit fresher. I like to incorporate pastel colours with accessories like cardigans, nail polishes, bags and jewellery.

My next favourite is a classic thing for me. I have chosen to put Disney movies on my favourite especially this month because I have watched so many. I have loved Frozen since I got it as a gift for Easter, and have already watched it at least twice since then. I have also enjoyed Tangled (one of my most watched Disney movies because I just love the story so much) and classics like Beauty and the Beast. I use Disney movies as a thing to calm me down after a stressful and busy day, as well as a treat for weekday nights when there isn’t enough time for a long movie. What I personally love to do is have a bath and pamper night finished with a Disney movie before bed. I love that I can feel like a child and am absorbed into the happy world of Disney, if just for an evening.

My next monthly favourite is the Divergent series. As you probably guessed from my many reviews, I love Divergent. This trilogy book series by Veronica Roth is about a girl, called Beatrice having to decide where she fit in society and the consequences for each choice she makes. It is a romantic story filled with action, love, friendship, trust and family bonds, and is unlike any other book I’ve read. It is filled with heart-warming experiences that leave tales and morals deep in your mind. It is an amazing book, and the film is also incredible. My book review is here: http://mydaisychaincloset.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/book-review-divergent-by-veronica-roth.html

This month my favourite shops have been H&M and New Look, because the stock has been affordable as well as on trend for spring. My favourite buys from them are, from H&M, my collection of skater skirts that I have been loving to wear so much and, from New Look, my dusty pink/ pastel pink cami top which is so cute to style.

Favourite hobby: reading as I have been reading the Divergent series. I think it’s really good to read as it improves your literacy, takes you along on a brilliant story and gives you time to yourself, which is very important in our busy lives.

Favourite food: Since lent is over I have been kind of obsessed with chocolate. My favourite Easter treats being mini eggs and general Easter eggs, yummy!
Favourite drink: Costa’s mocha coffee. I have always loved this drink but now I can drink it again I am in love!

So that’s all for this month’s monthly favourites, what were you April favourites? Let me know in the comments below. Hope your all having a lovely spring,
